Term 3 Opening Mass
La Salle Catholic School officially opened the new academic season with the Term 3 Opening Mass, celebrated in the school dining hall on Monday morning. The entire school community — learners, teachers, and staff — came together in thanksgiving, prayer, and song, seeking God’s blessing and guidance for the term ahead.
A Spirit-Filled Celebration
The Mass was presided over by the parish head, St. John the Evangelist in Karen, Lang’ata, Nairobi who warmly welcomed the learners back to school after the August break. The liturgy was lively, marked by the active participation of the learners, the school choir, and the liturgical team.

Homily Reflection
In his homily, the priest drew inspiration from the Gospel reading of the day, encouraging learners to always seek wisdom, grow in discipline, and remain faithful to God in all they do. He reminded students that success in academics is important, but it becomes truly meaningful when it is accompanied by strong values, a life of prayer, and service to others.
The priest also highlighted the importance of community, linking it to the Lasallian heritage of living together in faith and fraternity. He urged learners to treat each other with kindness and respect, to support one another in challenges, and to make their school a place where God’s love is seen in action.

Welcome Address by the School Director
Following the homily, Br. Paulos, the School Director, addressed the community with a warm message. He expressed gratitude to God for bringing everyone back safely after the one-month break and encouraged learners to embrace the new term with focus and determination.
Br. Paulos reminded the students of the Lasallian principles — faith, service, and community — and emphasized that education at La Salle Catholic School is not only about academics but also about forming good character, nurturing faith, and building a sense of responsibility to society. He invited learners to carry these values into their studies and daily interactions.

Sacramental Preparation
As part of the liturgical reflection, Mr. Alex, who coordinates the school’s liturgy, spoke about the upcoming sacraments. He encouraged learners preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation and First Holy Communion this term to take their formation seriously, highlighting that these sacraments are steps toward a deeper relationship with Christ and a greater commitment to living their Catholic faith.
He called upon the wider student body to accompany their peers through prayer and encouragement, ensuring that those preparing for the sacraments feel supported by the entire school community.

Songs of Praise
The school choir animated the celebration with uplifting hymns and songs, adding a joyful spirit to the Mass. Their voices filled the dining hall with praise, drawing the entire community into active participation.

A United Community of Faith
The Mass concluded with a special blessing over the learners, teachers, and staff as they begin Term 3. The celebration was a reminder that La Salle Catholic School is not just a place of learning but also a family rooted in faith, unity, and service.
In his final words, the celebrant left the school community with a powerful message:
“As you begin this new term, remember that Christ walks with you in every lesson, every challenge, and every friendship. Keep your eyes on Him, and you will not only succeed in your studies but also grow into the people God has called you to be.”
With hearts renewed and spirits lifted, the La Salle Catholic School community now looks ahead to a term filled with growth, learning, and opportunities to live out the Lasallian mission of touching hearts, teaching minds, and transforming lives.
