We Are Bridges for Peace: Your Invitation to the 2025 International Lasallian Days for Peace

In a world often marked by division and strife, the call to be peacemakers is not just a noble ideal—it is an urgent necessity. The Lasallian family, a global community rooted in the educational vision of St. John Baptist de La Salle, is once again answering this call with purpose and hope.

The International Commission on Youth is proud to announce the theme for the 2025 International Lasallian Days for Peace (ILDP)“We Are Bridges for Peace: From Conflict to Connection.” This powerful theme invites each of us to reflect on our unique role as builders of a more just, compassionate, and connected world.

A Season of Reflection and Action

The ILDP is not a single day but a dedicated season of engagement, running from the International Day of Peace on September 21st to October 21st, 2025. This month-long journey is an opportunity for students, educators, alumni, and all Lasallians to deepen our commitment to peacebuilding, inspired by this year’s Lasallian Reflection, “All is Connected.”

We are called to move beyond being mere observers of conflict. Instead, we are invited to become active bridges—spanning the divides of misunderstanding, injustice, and indifference to foster genuine human connection.

How Will We Build Bridges Together?

Throughout the ILDP season, we will provide a series of weekly resources, activities, and prompts designed to foster dialogue, empathy, and meaningful action within your communities, schools, and families. These materials will help you:

  • Facilitate conversations about the realities of conflict and the pathways to peace.

  • Engage in reflective practices that help us understand our interconnectedness.

  • Develop actionable projects that respond to injustice and nurture fraternity

The Power of a Simple Gesture: A Story of Connection

The call to be “bridges” is beautifully illustrated by a story shared by Br. Armin Luistro FSC during the Youth Jubilee 2025. He spoke of Sergio, a young child who, without a single word, offered a quiet embrace that spoke volumes. This simple, profound gesture cut through noise and conflict, revealing the transformative power of presence and empathy.

It is in these moments—the listening ear, the compassionate response, the courageous stand against injustice—that the journey toward peace truly begins. We are called to emulate this spirit, following the examples of Jesus and St. John Baptist de La Salle by mending divisions and walking with others toward hope.

Answering the Call: How You Can Participate

Being a bridge for peace requires both dreamers and doers. Here’s how you can get involved:

  1. Mark Your Calendar: Set a reminder for the kickoff event on September 22nd and the entire ILDP season (Sept. 21 – Oct. 21).

  2. Download and Share: Access the resource folder and share the materials with your community. Print the poster and display it proudly.

  3. Engage Your Community: Use the weekly activities to spark discussion in your classrooms, community groups, and families.

  4. Register for “Let’s Talk…”: Join the global conversation and be part of the collective launch.

  5. Share Your Story: As you engage in activities, share your stories and projects on social media using the hashtag #LasanllianPeace and #ILDP2025. Let’s inspire each other.

In the words of Br. Armin, “The world has always been shaped by dreamers.” This September, let us be those dreamers. Let us be the builders, the connectors, the bridges. Let us move together from conflict to connection.

In peace and unity,
