Opening Mass – Term 1, 2026
A New Academic Year Entrusted to God
La Salle Catholic School officially marked the beginning of Term 1, 2026 with a solemn Opening Mass, bringing together students, staff, and the school administration in prayer and thanksgiving as the new academic year commenced.
Gathering in Faith
The celebration began with a reverent entrance procession, setting a reflective and prayerful atmosphere. As the community gathered, hearts and minds were intentionally drawn toward God, acknowledging that all learning, growth, and success find their true foundation in Him.
Penitential Act and Gloria
In humility, the school community participated in the Penitential Act, seeking God’s mercy and forgiveness as we prepared ourselves to begin the year with renewed hearts. This moment reminded learners and educators alike of the values of repentance, humility, and personal responsibility.
The joyful singing of the Gloria followed, lifting voices in praise and gratitude for the gift of life, learning, and the opportunity to journey together in the year ahead.
Liturgy of the Word
During the Liturgy of the Word, Scripture readings spoke powerfully about faith, obedience, service, and perseverance. The Word of God encouraged students to pursue excellence with integrity and reminded all present that wisdom begins with reverence for God.
In the homily, the celebrant challenged learners to view education not merely as academic achievement, but as holistic formation—of mind, character, and spirit—guided by Christian values.
Liturgy of the Eucharist
At the heart of the celebration, the Liturgy of the Eucharist united the community in thanksgiving. As the gifts were presented and consecrated, the school symbolically placed the entire academic year on the altar—its challenges, ambitions, and successes—entrusting them fully to God’s care.
Holy Communion
Through the reception of Holy Communion, the faithful were strengthened and renewed, reminded of the call to live out Christ’s teachings in daily school life: love, discipline, respect, and service to others.
Final Blessing and Sending Forth
The Mass concluded with a solemn blessing, commissioning students and staff to go forth as witnesses of faith, excellence, and responsibility both within and beyond the school environment.
Message from the School Leadership
Following the Mass, the School Director and the School Principal officially welcomed all students back to school. In their addresses, they expressed gratitude to parents and staff for their continued trust and dedication, encouraged learners to remain focused and disciplined, and reaffirmed the school’s commitment to academic excellence, moral formation, and holistic development rooted in Catholic values.
They reminded students that the new academic year presents fresh opportunities for growth, hard work, and positive transformation, urging them to embrace learning with enthusiasm, respect, and a strong sense of purpose.
A Blessed Beginning
The Opening Mass for Term 1, 2026 served as a powerful reminder that at La Salle Catholic School, education is not only about intellectual achievement but also about nurturing faith, character, and service. As the term begins, the entire school community moves forward united, hopeful, and anchored in God’s guidance.
