Lasallian Scouts Celebrate Founder’s Day in Style

The Lasallian Scouts recently participated in an exciting and educational Founder’s Day celebration at Machakos Scouts’ Camp on Saturday, 8th March 2025. This annual event honors the legacy of Lord Baden Powell, the founder of the scouting movement, whose vision and dedication have shaped millions of young people worldwide.

A Journey of Learning and Adventure

A total of 104 scouts, comprising both Sungura (Cub Scouts) and Chipukizi (Junior Scouts), embarked on the memorable journey to Machakos. They were accompanied by a dedicated team of 10 adults, including five teachers, four drivers, and a school nurse, ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants.

Excitement filled the air as the young scouts eagerly anticipated a day filled with learning, adventure, and interaction with fellow scouts from different schools. For many, it was a chance to explore new places, make new friends, and deepen their understanding of the scouting movement.

A Grand Welcome at Machakos Scouts’ Centre

Upon arrival at the Machakos Scouts’ Centre, the La Sallian Scouts were warmly received by the overall commissioner in charge, who welcomed them with great enthusiasm. The excitement was evident as scouts from different schools gathered to commemorate Founder’s Day, an event honoring the legacy of Lord Baden Powell. The commissioner led an engaging session where he narrated the history of scouting, tracing its roots from Baden Powell’s military career to the establishment of the scouting movement in 1907.

He emphasized the impact of scouting on young people worldwide and explained the significance of Founder’s Day, which serves as a reminder of the values of loyalty, service, and leadership that every scout upholds.

Embracing Nature and Exploring Gravity’s Mysteries

As part of their adventure, the scouts embarked on a nature trail, demonstrating their love for the environment and outdoor exploration. Along the way, they observed different plant species, listened to birdsong, and strengthened their bond with nature.

One of the highlights of the day was a trip to Chamuilu, a fascinating location where the laws of gravity appear to work in reverse. In this mysterious area, objects seem to roll uphill instead of downhill! The scouts were amazed by this rare phenomenon, which sparked curiosity and discussions about science and nature.
