πŸ•οΈ Scout Investiture & Going Up Ceremony πŸ•οΈ

La Salle Catholic School recently held a Scout Induction and Going Up Ceremony, marking an important milestone in our scouting program. The event provided an opportunity for new members to officially join the Scouts movement, embracing the values of discipline, leadership, teamwork, and service to others.

🌿 Scout Induction: Welcoming New Members

The induction process served as an introductory step for pupils interested in scouting, helping them understand the principles of scouting and preparing them for their journey ahead. Through engaging activities and mentorship from senior scouts, the new recruits learned about the importance of responsibility, resilience, and self-reliance in everyday life.

⬆️ Going Up Ceremony: A Milestone Achievement

One of the most anticipated moments of the day was the Going Up Ceremony, a transition for Sungura Scouts (ages 6-11) who had successfully completed their requirements to move up to Chipukizi Scouts (ages 12-15). This transition was symbolized by a change in their scarvesβ€”Sungura Scouts wear yellow scarves, while Chipukizi Scouts receive green scarves, marking their growth in the scouting journey.

πŸ… Proficiency Badge Awards: Recognizing Achievements

As part of our commitment to rewarding dedication and skill development, proficiency badges were awarded to scouts who successfully completed various scouting tasks. Following a challenging hike at Ngong Hills, scouts were recognized for their perseverance and achievement:
βœ… Sungura Scouts – Awarded the Observer Badge πŸ¦… for their ability to pay attention to details in nature and surroundings.
βœ… Chipukizi Scouts – Awarded the Drug Abuse Awareness Badge 🚫 for their commitment to educating and spreading awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.

πŸ”Έ The Journey of a Sungura Scout

For Sungura Scouts, their journey is marked by the progressive attainment of four key badges:
⭐ Nyota 1 – The beginner badge, focusing on foundational scouting skills.
⭐ Nyota 2 – Intermediate skills in survival, teamwork, and first aid.
⭐ Nyota 3 – Advanced scouting techniques, problem-solving, and leadership.
⭐ Link Badge – The highest achievement in Sungura scouting, preparing them for the transition to Chipukizi.

With each badge earned, scouts gain confidence and a deeper understanding of their role in society, encouraging them to “Do Your Best”β€”the Sungura motto.

🌍 The Future of Scouting at La Salle Catholic School

As our scouting program continues to grow, we are thrilled to announce the anticipated introduction of the Rovers Unit, which will cater to Grade 9 learners. Traditionally, the Rovers Unit was available only in secondary schools under the 8-4-4 system, but we are excited to extend this opportunity to our scouts, allowing them to further develop leadership skills and engage in community service projects.

πŸ‘ Congratulations to Our Scouts!

We commend all our scouts for their dedication, resilience, and enthusiasm. Through scouting, they are not only learning valuable life skills but also becoming responsible citizens and future leaders.
