Celebrating Excellence: Paul Junior Muturi Shines in Music and Swimming
At La Salle Catholic Primary School in Karen, we believe in nurturing every child’s unique potential. One of our shining stars, Paul Junior Muturi, recently earned a well-deserved spotlight in the Daily Nation’s JuniorSpot pullout (April 7, 2025), under the inspiring headline: “Paul: Don’t let fear stifle your dreams.” His story is one of determination, discipline, and the power of pursuing what you love—and we couldn’t be prouder.
A Multifaceted Young Talent
At just 10 years old, Paul Junior has already made waves—both literally and figuratively. A dedicated student and an active participant in the school’s music and sports programs, Paul is a perfect example of how talent, when matched with support and passion, can lead to greatness.
In the feature written by George Mwendwa, Paul shares how his musical journey began as early as kindergarten at Shingi Bora School. “I began playing the piano when I was in kindergarten,” he recalls. With encouragement from his music teacher and a deep personal interest, Paul found that “the sounds were soothing,” and that music provided a compelling challenge that he eagerly embraced.
Musical Dedication
Paul’s love for music has seen him grow into a skilled pianist. At La Salle, he regularly participates in music programs and performances and uses every opportunity to hone his craft. “There’s nothing hard about playing the piano. Just do it. You’ll always enjoy when you want, and don’t force yourself. You have to have passion,” Paul wisely advises.
Making a Splash in Swimming
But Paul’s journey doesn’t end with music. As highlighted in the article, Paul is also a decorated swimmer, having participated in numerous galas and competitions. With 15 gold medals to his name, he has shown that the same discipline he applies to music also fuels his performance in the pool. “I’m training for next year’s swimming competitions and the finals. I want to do better and get to State House,” he confidently shares.

Support at Home and School
Paul’s mother, Carol Muturi, speaks proudly of her son’s dedication: “Paul is very determined. Once he sets his mind on something, he gives it his all. We’ve always encouraged him to pursue what he loves.” Her encouragement is a testament to the power of family support in nurturing talent.
At La Salle Catholic School, we recognize the importance of a balanced education that empowers students academically, artistically, and athletically. Paul’s achievements embody this holistic approach, and we are delighted that his hard work and dedication have been recognized nationally.
A Message for Fellow Learners
Paul’s advice to his fellow learners is simple yet profound: “Don’t let fear in your mind,” he says. “Have passion. Don’t run away from music or swimming. If it’s what you love, just attack and do it.”
These words serve as a powerful reminder to all our students—and to us as educators—that fear should never limit our potential. With confidence, guidance, and dedication, our children can achieve remarkable things.
Looking Ahead
We congratulate Paul for representing La Salle Catholic School with such excellence and integrity. His story is an inspiration not only to his classmates but to students across Kenya. As a school, we remain committed to identifying and nurturing the unique gifts of each learner, ensuring they have the support they need to shine—just like Paul.
