Today, the La Salle Catholic School community came together to mark the beginning of the Lenten season with a solemn and meaningful Ash Wednesday celebration. This sacred occasion served as a reminder of the importance of repentance, reflection, and renewal in our spiritual journey.
The day commenced with a special Mass led by our dedicated clergy, where students, teachers, and staff gathered in prayer and contemplation. During the Mass, the priest administered the ashes on the foreheads of the faithful in the shape of a cross, symbolizing our commitment to turn away from sin and embrace the Gospel. The words, “Repent and believe in the Gospel,” echoed throughout the ceremony, reminding everyone of the essence of this season of grace.
The atmosphere was filled with reverence as students actively participated in the liturgical celebration through readings and hymn singing. The beautiful choral renditions by the school choir added a deeply spiritual touch, enhancing the solemnity of the event. Teachers also played a vital role in guiding students to understand the significance of Ash Wednesday and the Lenten season as a whole.
As part of the celebration, our school community also took a moment to acknowledge and bless students and staff who celebrated their birthdays in the month of February. The priest offered a special prayer for them, asking for God’s continued guidance, blessings, and protection in their lives. This heartfelt gesture emphasized the sense of togetherness and care that defines the La Salle Catholic School family.
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, a 40-day period of fasting, prayer, and almsgiving, leading up to Easter. At La Salle Catholic School, we encourage our students to use this time to grow in faith, practice acts of kindness, and strengthen their relationship with God and others. Various Lenten activities, including charity drives, prayer groups, and reflections, have been planned to help students deepen their faith and cultivate a spirit of generosity.
As we embark on this Lenten journey, may we all be inspired to reflect deeply, seek reconciliation, and live out the values of love, humility, and selflessness. Let this season be a time of personal and communal transformation as we prepare to celebrate the joy of Easter.
